X Games keep it commin...
Corey Bohan took 1st. He missed all his runs but the last one. Run went like so: Tuck 1 foot on drop in, 1 foot flatty 3, bar to late whip, 3, front flip= win.C. Doyal took 2nd. He held first after his first run, that they didn't show. He missed his 2nd run on whip transfer, and his 3rd run was: transfer over on drop in, transfer whip back over, 3 turndown, 3 whip. Wasn't good enough to hold of Corey who had the last run of the day.
Ryan Guettler finished with 3rd. He missed his first run. On his 2nd run he: 3 drop in, turndown, front flip, 720, dead sailor tagger on last. This originally put him in second and then he was bumped to 3rd after Corey's last run. Ryan missed his last run, and then couldn't let go and did a glory run to try and stick a 720 whip, come down, he missed it. Yo times up, you lost, get over it.
Nasty was a alternate along with Colin Mckay. Mckay rode alright, he had a moment in the standings. Nasty was all bearded up and riding like a mad man. You could tell he was just there for shits and giggles. He tried to flip the drop in and fell, crazy stuff. When they went to interview him he replied with, Who? Mike Jones. Who? Mike Jones. That's all he kept saying. F-ing hilarious.
Oh yeah, Nyquist blew it again like last year. Again he didn't finish a single run and he placed in spot lower 9th.
Best Trick BMX Vert: This contest is something that Mat Hoffman has wanted to happen for a really long time and he was stoked to see it finally make the cut. He just wanted riders to be able to go off with out that 90 second run clock.
Flair Double Whip topped everything off by none other than Jamie Bestwick 1st palce and 2 for 2 on the week. Mirra took 2nd with a huge Flair Whip to double tailwhip link. That was Dave's 20th medal. 3rd went to Kagy. He won for a Flat Spin Whip over the channel. He knocked himself out with a triple whip attempt. kagy has really turned it on lately and I find him amazing to watch.
K. Robinson tried the double flair. On one attempt he hurt his shoulder. He gave it one more try and slammed on it again. Needless to say, he quit for 10th. One of my favorties from the vert contest, Australian, Tim Wood, threw down the first 900 of the night. It was perfect and let him finish 6th.
No street report. That shit never came on, I swear they do that every year. It was supposed to be on channel 2 and it never came on.
Ok a bit of research and this is what I found out. 3rd was Nyquist. I guess after like a 720 over the spine he still had good speed and looked forward saw some weird step up type of hip thing and just cranked at it. ("Then I looked around and it was a straight line for the sub-tranny so I just put my head down and went at it with no-idea what I was going to do." He boosted an off-axis 360 backflip over the sub into the tranny high atop the staging deck of the course.) Yeah I didn't see it and it was on EXPN.com so waht do you expect. He did something crazy and it wasn't good enough for first.
2nd was Scotty Cranmer. I did see this guy's first run and he did a front flip turn down up this big step up to flat thing. It was pretty cool. I guess on his second and final run it was pretty insane with some sort of switch footed whip over the spine, and the same front flip turndown I mentioned earlier. Everyone figured this would be good enough for first, but It wasn't.
1st went to the Miracle Boy, the man on the bike only Mike Jones and Paul Wall could love. It was entirely gold lated and values at over $6,000.00. At least this time Mirra would ride like he can and win this damn thing. "Big transfers and creative lines like his 360 tailwhip backward over the box jump straight into standard incredible Mirra moves like a big flair on the quarter to a double tailwhip on the box to a flipwhip over the spine." I guess that is the kind of stuff that gets you paid.
These are some funny quotes that i got from EXPN.com.
