Been a little busy....

Sorry about the lack of updates lately. I have been super busy. The most imortant thing has been getting ready for Metro Jam. It is going to be a blast. I am leaving tomorrow after work, picking up Morgan at GOODS and heading up to Seattle. I think we are staying at Harrisons house and then an early rise and a race to the border. I hope they don't hastle, my skin has gotten quite dark and my beard is getting pretty thick. Me and allah are boy's but we don't kick it.

Ken Mag. is finally back in PDX. He flew home rally late on Saturday night. 1am was his arrival time to be exact. He too hadn't shaved in several weeks and was actually able to grow quite a beard. Pretty good stuff. I guess he practically got strip searched before he was able to board the plane. He even almost missed his flight because he was listening to his ipod so loud. This guy never runs out of funny stories that happened to him.

Eric I. had knee surgury last monday. He pulled through everything fine and actually has to go back in a few months for the total rebuild. He is up walkin and rockin, his guitar that is. He has been learning to play all of his metal fave's.

His band is now officially two members. Clay just purchased the same guitar that Metallica Lead James Hetfield plays. Those to guy's, eric and clay are the biggest deuces now and they rock out. The is even rumor of Ken on vocals.

I think that GOODS got in all the new Loteks today. Mids and new troop and brooklyn colorways. Call and bother Shad.

There have been all sorts of people passing through lately because of the Dew Tour, the Red Bull Dirt Comp and now Metro Jam. Keep your eye's peeled for you favorite pros creepin up I-5.

Oh yeah, the new Kanye West dropped today. Pick it up, that shit is fire!-ben

Milwaukee Indoor Update....

Hey, just wanted to let you know I went and checked out that indoor park in Milwaukee. It’s pretty fun. The description doesn’t really do the place justice, here’s what they have. 10 foot tall quarter followed by a 6 foot box with about a 10-15foot deck, also it has a slanted wall ride on the side. Modified bowl, with a vert wall and a couple wall rides, also has a sub box and like a 5 1/2 foot spine out of it, you can also jump out of the bowl and hit two dirt doubles. There is also a set of box jumps lined up in a rhythm, they are about 3 feet high, and one with like a 5 foot gap and the other is a 3 foot gap, tranny to tranny, also an 8 foot quart to get speed for them. All the ramps are plywood and have no coping. This place also has a full size race track that is pretty sick. The guy that runs it is cool; he even keeps the park open later if the session is running good. Everyone needs to check this place out, so they stay in business. We had to call the guy and have him come out and open up the place, because he hasn’t had it open for a few days because no one is showing up. I think a couple of us might go out there tonight, session starts at 8 maybe we will see some more people there.- Jason Stanwood

Check my Dew Day 1.....

Let me start off by saying, Portland has got to have one of the greatest scenes anywhere. This is something that I have always believed. I am not talking about bike riding or skateboarding though. I am talking about the people that live here. They are the scene. The crowed is what I am talking about. Last nights crowed and group of riders showed me something I did not think still existed. They showed me support, respect, and admiration. I don't know if it was the feeling on the deck, the look in the riders eyes before and during a run, or the amount or hyping up everyone did for each other, but it was contagious.

You know, I actually saw Jay Miron smiling before, durring and after his runs. That was great. He even told us, "This is one of the greatest vert contests ever. It has been a long time since it was this fun. Look at the entire crowed, they are on their feet. I haven't had this much fun at a contest in a while." That was one of the greatest thing I have ever heard. Jay was right. This was an amazing and special thing.

I am nor sure of all the finishings. I do believe that Jamie Bestwick took it all again. I do believe that watching him in person was one of the most.... it was just the most. So high, so smoothe, so fast. "No one has ever done a burn out in the flat bottom pumping."-Jay Miron I saw a flair whip in person, I saw Jamie's lazer coping seeking eyes, and I was surrounded by friends the entire time. Last night was a great night for myself, bmx and most of all, the city of PDX. Only three more days to go.

Did you go to Metro Jam last year? Well if you did, you saw Morgan Wades sweet tatoos. Oh yes they were all fake and if you would likehelp out Morgan, he is trying to complete both arms and then some for this year. Any where you go and you see fake tattoos, get them and drop them off at GOODS. Morgan has a great start, but he needs our help. I figure he always puts on a great show for us, the least we can do is help aa brother out with some tats.-ben

Might have been a RAD night....

This evening was supposed to be a big kick off party for the DEW Tour at the Portland Grill. This plac is real posh and sits on the 30th floor of the US BankCorp Tower. I guess nothing was oign on at 11:45pm. Why did we wait untill so late to go. Well #1 it is way cooler to show up that way and #2 we were busy. But we were busy doing what??? DUM DUM DUM DUM DUMMMMM!

We wre watching none other than RAD on the Big Screen. Yess that is right! Tonight at 9:30pm at the Clinton Theater the movie RAD was slated to start. I showed up fashionably late a little after 10:00pm. I guess that made me right on time. There were some short flicks playing before. I wont bore you with their details.

The audience was quite a cool one. There were all sorts of people in full effect. Barspinner Ryan, Morgan Wade, Phil Wassan and a few others were in attendance. It is great to finally have something going on locally. That means everyone finally has to come to our home turf. We get to hang out real late with a lot of great people and then we get to sleep in our own beds. It is soooo great. I guess that is it. I just wanted to let you know what you missed out there tonight. Next time you will pay more attention.

Oh yeah, this one is for Ken, who is out there lost in LA. John Bristol showed up tonight and kicked it. You know your jealouse. HAHA.-ben

BMX Only Indoor Park????

Yep it's totally true. This place need rider support in order to keep their doors open. I know it's summer, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to keep a good thing around.-ben

I have opened a Indoor BMX Park with a Track and Ramp Park in Milwaukee. We are open every evening M-Thurs. 8pm-11:30pm, Fri-Sat 6pm-12am and Sunday 6-11pm. We need riders for this thing to work.

We have a modified bowl, a box jump & wall rides. The cost is $10.00 each day for all the hours we are open. If we get enough riders we can open more hours. This is a BMX only park for BMX riders. Directions to our location are on the site. You can visit us at www.bmxracingnw.com.

Thanks

What to talk about....BMX JAM!

It was a nice day today. I know I was out in it for about 10 minutes. I finally got the flyer done for the St. Johns Jam. So here goes.

On Sunday September 18th, 2005 will be the Meet the Crete Fundraiser Benefit. This particular get together will be to raise more money for the Pier Park Project. We raised almost $400 in Eugene and there is no reason that we can't do even better here. This is a local event to benefit the local scene and help in it's participation to build some great parks in a great city.

There is rumor of the neighborhood association getting involved with a bar-b-que and there are supposed to be even cool prizes than in Eugene. So come one come all.

Peep the flyer son!

Going Going Back Back.....

Well Bruce is finally back in town from his adventures abroad. He is going to be taking it easy for a while and let himself heal up and start walking strait again. It is great to see him again, twice today even.

The Pier Park Benefit Jam will be on Sept. 18th, the day after my birthday. Yippie. This oune might get pretty big. I know the neighborhood association wanted to get involved and have a big bar-b-que. We also should have even more prizes than in Eugene. Stay tuned for the next flyer comming soon.

As I type Eric "The Axe Man" Eisenhauer is playing a metal as hell Star Spangled Banner. He is getting good really fast.

The Feds finally caught up with me. Damn taxes.

Ken is trapped in California. He mumbled a ton and said somethinga bout a picture and a bus. I guess he is takin gpictures of busses.

Chester is still really good. Pump that wall again!

The living room is clean, thanks Eric. Oh yeah, the kitchen too.

Squashed the beef today. Everything is all good. Also saw Nike filming a commecial and my favorite dude Danial Shimizu was really small and shredding. Nike does some hot stuff. Sooo great.

I am having so much trouble posting to the new site. Some thing about a time out java script load error. I will continue to get something up every day. TTYL, LOL.-ben

Damn don't you hate it when that one dude at the bike shop that sells Mountain Bikes calls you guy. Makes me wanna rip his head off and shove the latest bianchi jersey down his gullet. Good times!

Well here is the break down for next weeks Mt. Dew Tour.

Rather Here's A Link. Magical Link, CLICK ME.

On that note.....

I just mentioned that we are palnning to do one more jam at St. Johns. We might have to do this one as a rush. We don't know yet, but apparently they are planning the demolition of the old park real soon. I know Robin P. from the neighborhood Assoc. and I would really like to get something really cool going out there. There is even talk of a buy chances to destroy the park kind of fund raising event. You like when you pay 5 bucks to hit a car a few times, only with a skatepark. It would be rad like 1 dollar a minute in the park. I can see the line already.-ben

Holla back young'n.......

Now is the time. Start right now. Begin. What? It don't matter none. What more can I say.....

I news outside the BMX Box. Next week Common will be here in PDX. Next Tuesday to be infact, at the Crystal Ballroom. True hip-hop need to recognize! The ticket will set you back about $30. But believe me, it will be worth every penny or 3000. HAHA! Can't wait.

We as in Shad and I, are thinking about the Middle of September on a Sunday that we will do the St. Johns Jam. My B-day is on 9/17 and all things but me will be cancelled that day. I will get you the info as soon as I got's it.

Next week is the Mt Dew stuff. I think it goes from Thursday to Sunday. If anything, I would make sure to catch vert. If it is half as good as the X-Games were, you are in for a treat.

I heard that GOODS has their Fly frames for a great deal. Check that out.

Also word on the street is that KEn is now a super pro in Cali. He rode the Primo Ramps today. I bet he did a tuck it.

Well I guess i'm going to call it 8...9...10, Yer out! And so am I.-ben

Nothing and posting....

Yeah, I really don't have anything to post for today. Cruising the web and I have noticed that the conspiracy theory have already started about the X Games. Damn people get over it. It is a TV show, who cares who wins. Just give me something good to watch.

Speaking of watching, or lack there of. I sent a letter to KATU and I invite you to do the same. It turns out that I was not the only person let down by our local Channel 2 this past weekend. If you would like to contact them, and I urge you to, you can click on the following link and tell them how you feel by being neglected this past weekend. We are people too, xtreme people, but people none the less.

Most Outstanding Athlete...

Goes to Jamie Bestwick. Jamie was presented with a Saturn Sky Sports Car. I finally saw the footage of the double whip flair and it was nuts. If you have seen the flip flair imagine that at like 10 feet out and then being totally strait in the air for the second whip so that it looks like a simple whip air. Grab some pedals and ride away with your second gold medal. That is all I have on that today. Of course ABC didn't show the X Games like they were supposed to again. I don't get it.

Dean, Kurt, Steve and Dakota are heading back home tomorrow morning. They stopped by the house to say their good bye's tonight. It was great to ride with them, oh wait, I didn't. It's all about the J-O-B. HAHA, yeah right.

I did go see The Dukes of Hazard tonight. What can I say, it was freaking great! Check it out if you get a chance. I guess tonight I will leave you with a short one.-ben

X Games keep it commin...

Corey Bohan took 1st. He missed all his runs but the last one.  Run went like so: Tuck 1 foot on drop in, 1 foot flatty 3, bar to late whip, 3, front flip= win.

C. Doyal took 2nd. He held first after his first run, that they didn't show. He missed his 2nd run on whip transfer, and his 3rd run was: transfer over on drop in, transfer whip back over, 3 turndown, 3 whip. Wasn't good enough to hold of Corey who had the last run of the day.

Ryan Guettler finished with 3rd. He missed his first run. On his 2nd run he: 3 drop in, turndown, front flip, 720, dead sailor tagger on last.  This originally put him in second and then he was bumped to 3rd after Corey's last run.  Ryan missed his last run, and then couldn't let go and did a glory run to try and stick a 720 whip, come down, he missed it.  Yo times up, you lost, get over it.

Nasty was a alternate along with Colin Mckay.  Mckay rode alright, he had a moment in the standings.  Nasty was all bearded up and riding like a mad man.  You could tell he was just there for shits and giggles.  He tried to flip the drop in and fell, crazy stuff.  When they went to interview him he replied with, Who?  Mike Jones. Who? Mike Jones. That's all he kept saying.  F-ing hilarious.

Oh yeah, Nyquist blew it again like last year.  Again he didn't finish a single run and he placed in spot lower 9th.

Best Trick BMX Vert: This contest is something that Mat Hoffman has wanted to happen for a really long time and he was stoked to see it finally make the cut. He just wanted riders to be able to go off with out that 90 second run clock.

Flair Double Whip topped everything off by none other than Jamie Bestwick 1st palce and 2 for 2 on the week. Mirra took 2nd with a huge Flair Whip to double tailwhip link. That was Dave's 20th medal. 3rd went to Kagy. He won for a Flat Spin Whip over the channel. He knocked himself out with a triple whip attempt. kagy has really turned it on lately and I find him amazing to watch.

K. Robinson tried the double flair. On one attempt he hurt his shoulder. He gave it one more try and slammed on it again. Needless to say, he quit for 10th. One of my favorties from the vert contest, Australian, Tim Wood, threw down the first 900 of the night. It was perfect and let him finish 6th.

No street report.  That shit never came on, I swear they do that every year.  It was supposed to be on channel 2 and it never came on.

Ok a bit of research and this is what I found out. 3rd was Nyquist. I guess after like a 720 over the spine he still had good speed and looked forward saw some weird step up type of hip thing and just cranked at it. ("Then I looked around and it was a straight line for the sub-tranny so I just put my head down and went at it with no-idea what I was going to do." He boosted an off-axis 360 backflip over the sub into the tranny high atop the staging deck of the course.) Yeah I didn't see it and it was on EXPN.com so waht do you expect. He did something crazy and it wasn't good enough for first.

2nd was Scotty Cranmer. I did see this guy's first run and he did a front flip turn down up this big step up to flat thing. It was pretty cool. I guess on his second and final run it was pretty insane with some sort of switch footed whip over the spine, and the same front flip turndown I mentioned earlier. Everyone figured this would be good enough for first, but It wasn't.

1st went to the Miracle Boy, the man on the bike only Mike Jones and Paul Wall could love. It was entirely gold lated and values at over $6,000.00. At least this time Mirra would ride like he can and win this damn thing. "Big transfers and creative lines like his 360 tailwhip backward over the box jump straight into standard incredible Mirra moves like a big flair on the quarter to a double tailwhip on the box to a flipwhip over the spine." I guess that is the kind of stuff that gets you paid.

These are some funny quotes that i got from EXPN.com.

Quotes

"Nobody was more surprised than me that I pulled that twisty-flip, spinning sideways transfer."—Ryan Nyquist

"It's good that Dave won. Now he has enough gold to melt down his medals for another bike."—Mat Hoffman

"All I wanted to do was win something so I could wear my gold sunglasses on my gold bike with my gold medal."—Dave Mirra

"Cranmer got ripped off."—A lot of people

What's going on?

Tonight at 6:00pm on ESPN is Day 2 of the X Games. I don't remeber what they are showing tonight. But I will probably write a bit about it.

If you are bored and it is too hot to ride, you should check out www.defgrip.com. It is a Semi-Local Site dedicated to music, fashion, bmx, and all around cool stuff in general. It is off the Tofurkey Rack Fo' Sho'.

Well it is Official, Rich is on his way back to LA LA Land. The best part is that he is taking my roommate with him. Just Kiddin' Ken. Rich has officially put Ken into slavery and Ken is loving it. I love how Ken doesn't mind to work when he isn't getting paid. Just messin' again. Ken came up on a whole new wardrobe last night. He can't wait until it is cold enough for him to wear his new sweaters. Ken say's he is going to try and beat Eddie insane clip clocking record. Get on it Ken. Oh well, Rich will back back to the land of sun. I think it is going to be more of a break for him than a working move. I know he just wants to ride all the time again. Good luck ya'll. Safe travels.

I think that is it for now. The weather has been amazing lately. Yeah Amazingly Hot and I love it. I just reshaved my heat and it was strait out of Nightmare on Elm St. from sun burn. Bring on the cancer. Have fun dudes.-ben

X-Games Night 1.....

Can you say Gold Plated Dave Mirra Complete Bike vales at over $6000.00. That right that is what Dave was riding. Unfortunately for Dave he wsn't riding it for long. Half through a great run full off huge airs and mucho style, Dave Opposite Style Airs over the channel to death. Dave got way ahead of his bars and that was all she wrote. Nose wheelie slam to shoulder and head, full gumby style. Needless to say Dave was wrecked and would with drawl from the competition.

Other Random happenings: The Beast in full Effect. 540 whip first run with no air time. Second run was fully covered and I am not sure what happened to Jay. I know it looked like he wanted to get something big going but it just didn't happen. My favorite part was when Jay left the ramp it looked like he was going to clock an X official with his helmet. Freaking sweet. John Parker killed in his first run with some of the coolest single and double whips I have ever seen. Unfortunately he would go down really bad in his second run and be taken off in a stretcher. I don;t know what he paid the price on, but it was expensive. My favorite standout was a guy nemed Tim for Australia. This guy refinanced his house down under to make it to the Asian X Games and he won that shit. He go the invite to this games and he rode well. You could tell he was a bit nervous, but the dude over roated a bit on a 900. I hear he does these like a madman.

The finishings were like so: BRONZE- None other than Kevin Robinson. This guy goes fast and big now a days. i saw him a few months ago at the Boom Boom Huck Jam and that was a great preview. Kevin did his usual suspect stuff, huge flairs, cork screw tuck no hands. The coolest new thing he did was Opposite Cork Screw.

SILVER- Chad Kagy. What can I say about Chad now? The guy is riding vert like no other. Bar Spin late Tailwhips, the biggest Double Whips I have ever seen striat into flairs. This guy was going so big. Pretty rad to see the finish.

GOLD- Who do you think got the gold? Yeah it was Jamie Bestwick. What can I say about Jamie. I saw him ride the Beaverton Vert Ramp at the B3 years ago and this guy goes so f-ing huge. Now give him a 13.5 foot ver ramp and he will go even bigger. Jamie had the contest won after his first run, so his second run was just for fun. Man if a 15 foot totally upside down invert is just taking it easy than sign me up for the good life. Jamie finished his second run with every one of his hardest tricks 1 after another from wall to wall. Good times. I haven't gone, what the ...., in a long time when it came to riding. I love Cable!

Next is the Moto Best Trick, bit I'll leave tht for another site. I did see Pastrana trying bike flips into his foam pit. Yeah I don't know either. Well keep coming back and maybe I'll keep this thing updated. Have a great one.-ben

Sorry about that everyone. The old server went down and I had to scramble to get the one working. I took a few late nights, but here we are. I am going to be working on a new layout and look. What it will be, I still have no idea. Keep checking back.

By the way. The Eugene Comp. turned Jam turned out really good. Everyone got tons of free stuff and we raised almost $400 for the Pier Park Project. I guess that is it for now. I have to be up in 3 hours for work and I need to take a nap.-ben
