Today was BMX, today was a good day....

It has been a hard transistion to the new live I live here in So Cal. I do have to say that my job is amazing and I have already done some designs that I should have samples on my bike a testing over the next month. The hardest part is not getting to see any of my closest friends on a daily basis. The last few weekends have def. had some improvements. With so many people stopping through town on Mega Tour and just escaping the weather I have been feeling more at ease, and it is great. Also the fact that more and more friends are moving here on the almost daily basis. Eddie C and now Jesse W. help me to feel that touch of home. PDX is reppin up in this peice, and beleive me, people are taking notice.

You know you have those days that you will look back on and tell stories that start with, "Remember that one day..." Well today was one of those days. This story actually starts the evening that mega Tour had is kick off. I came up to the ramps at Tip and I was greating people, shaking hands, and kissing babies, you know the game. I look over and I am like no way, I don't know who was next to me, probably my brother Andy Merrall, and I was like like, "Holy Shit, is that Fids?" Andy was like, "I know, when I saw him I had to go up to him and introduce myself." I was taken back, this was Fids. If you have ever seen an old S&M video, ridden dirt jumps or trails, you know who Fids is, and here he was in all his Long Dirty Blond haired glory. All I could see was him huckin full speed and 360ing the biggest jumps, amazing. I eventually anded up by him and manned up to introduce myself. It was awkward and cool.

Fast forward to today....

I was out late last night celebrating Jim Bauer, Jeff Z. and their friend Jim Nash's birthday at a Hollywood bar. So many people, so many friends, so many memories, but that is not what we are here for. You know the saying, early to be, early to ride, well I went to bed around 3am, no early rise here. I roll over and I am thinking to myself, I wonder if I can make the morning session at Etnies, thinking it was like 8am. I look at my clock and it is 11:30am. I see my phone is flashing and Rich had hit me at 10:30am on I.M. letting me know they were going to the Civic Center. I hit him back with no answer, I jump out of bed, get dressed and head out as fast as I can. I get there around 12:00 and rich's truck is there so I am, stoked. I roll in and I see Robbie, Ian Morris, and a few others riding around. I head to another zone and I see Fids, pretty cool.

We start riding the table top doing Manuals, I later realize that Robbie, Ian and Fids were doing breakless manuals. Fids does a little table tweek out and then some no footers. I qouckly take of the tweek and I move on to the no footer and I eventually clean that as well. I stop for a minute and realize that I am riding a legendary spot in Southern California with Robbie, Ian Morris and Fids, wow it's kinda crazy, I was living my dream.

You watch all the videos as a kid, you sit in class day dreaming, you put yourself right in the middle of that session on the TV. I had to take a minute and look up to see if I could see a glass dome around us. To see if I could see a kid in his living room hanging out with friends watching us on his TV. There was a point when all of that aching and soreness went away and you just lived in the moment and took it all in. Today was BMX, today was a good day. Thanks guy's, thanks for being there for me on the TV screen and thanks for being there today as bike riders.

Hey "the hucker" fuck off.. You are making a joke of yourself, your name is Caleb. I will write what I want to write about, it's my site. It involved PDX, I was there, Eddie was there, Jesse was there, and Rich was there. We were actually getting to ride, wtf were you doing? The second part of the site name is BMX and that is what this story was about as well. Right when I start to think you are alright, you pull shit like this. Quit being so angery and bitter, those are not your best traits.-ben
