Today was BMX, today was a good day....
It has been a hard transistion to the new live I live here in So Cal. I do have to say that my job is amazing and I have already done some designs that I should have samples on my bike a testing over the next month. The hardest part is not getting to see any of my closest friends on a daily basis. The last few weekends have def. had some improvements. With so many people stopping through town on Mega Tour and just escaping the weather I have been feeling more at ease, and it is great. Also the fact that more and more friends are moving here on the almost daily basis. Eddie C and now Jesse W. help me to feel that touch of home. PDX is reppin up in this peice, and beleive me, people are taking notice.
You know you have those days that you will look back on and tell stories that start with, "Remember that one day..." Well today was one of those days. This story actually starts the evening that mega Tour had is kick off. I came up to the ramps at Tip and I was greating people, shaking hands, and kissing babies, you know the game. I look over and I am like no way, I don't know who was next to me, probably my brother Andy Merrall, and I was like like, "Holy Shit, is that Fids?" Andy was like, "I know, when I saw him I had to go up to him and introduce myself." I was taken back, this was Fids. If you have ever seen an old S&M video, ridden dirt jumps or trails, you know who Fids is, and here he was in all his Long Dirty Blond haired glory. All I could see was him huckin full speed and 360ing the biggest jumps, amazing. I eventually anded up by him and manned up to introduce myself. It was awkward and cool.
Fast forward to today....
I was out late last night celebrating Jim Bauer, Jeff Z. and their friend Jim Nash's birthday at a Hollywood bar. So many people, so many friends, so many memories, but that is not what we are here for. You know the saying, early to be, early to ride, well I went to bed around 3am, no early rise here. I roll over and I am thinking to myself, I wonder if I can make the morning session at Etnies, thinking it was like 8am. I look at my clock and it is 11:30am. I see my phone is flashing and Rich had hit me at 10:30am on I.M. letting me know they were going to the Civic Center. I hit him back with no answer, I jump out of bed, get dressed and head out as fast as I can. I get there around 12:00 and rich's truck is there so I am, stoked. I roll in and I see Robbie, Ian Morris, and a few others riding around. I head to another zone and I see Fids, pretty cool.
We start riding the table top doing Manuals, I later realize that Robbie, Ian and Fids were doing breakless manuals. Fids does a little table tweek out and then some no footers. I qouckly take of the tweek and I move on to the no footer and I eventually clean that as well. I stop for a minute and realize that I am riding a legendary spot in Southern California with Robbie, Ian Morris and Fids, wow it's kinda crazy, I was living my dream.
You watch all the videos as a kid, you sit in class day dreaming, you put yourself right in the middle of that session on the TV. I had to take a minute and look up to see if I could see a glass dome around us. To see if I could see a kid in his living room hanging out with friends watching us on his TV. There was a point when all of that aching and soreness went away and you just lived in the moment and took it all in.
Today was BMX, today was a good day. Thanks guy's, thanks for being there for me on the TV screen and thanks for being there today as bike riders.

NIKE iD
NIKE iDNoticed today that Nike iD has put up some it's Air Max line, with more models coming over thew next few months. Right now they have the Air Max 1, Air Max 180, and the Air Max '90.
If you don't know, Nike iD is a website where you can customize the colorway of quite a few different Nike shoe models. The prices are usually about only $5 more than a stock pair, but you will have to wait about a month to get em. Not too bad a price to pay for a custom colorway Nike shoe!!

Another day another post....
T.G.I.F. Thank goodness it's Friday! It's the end of the week and I have yet another post for you. Yesterday was quite a good day. Why you might ask.... Well I heard from none other than Tony Sanchez. You see Tony moved from good ol' PDX to Hawaii to work and live the "good life." Everything is going good for him and he is enjoying every moment of it.
Talked to Shad and everything is going really good on the mega tour. He shredded a 9 foot quarter at Woodward and Morgan told him that he was getting about 8 feet out. Shad thinks Morgan was being nice, I think Shad was blastin no matter. Eddie is up in Norcal and has been runnin with the crew in the good ol' Escort. I might have seen a tid bit of Eddies part for the new Lotek video and it was sooo good. I'm prolly no supposed to talk about that, oh well.
I think thats it for now. Have a great weekend.-ben

chi-POAT-le goes public....
Attention PDXers....
That's correct this past Wed., Chipotle went public. Public, that means they sold Millions of shares of stock for $22.00. By this morning the stock went up to over $45.00. IF you were able to invest, good job, if you were like me and didn't, we suck. Oh yeah, for all you people out there that still think McDonalds doesn't own Chipotle, you are sooooo very wrong.

Mega to where....
So Cal is where. Thats right, today is the kick off day of Mega Tour 15, not really sure on that one. I know there are several PDX'ers that are on the trip. Shad J, Andy M, Chester B, and on and on. Look at it this way, Solid has a crew of 17 people. i am not even sure if there is room for any other companies to join.
There will be a kick off BBQ at Tip Plus where they will do all those opening shots and then they will head out. i guess that's it. Keep your eye's peeled for the video to come out in about a year. Ok, i don;t know about that either.

Worst month EVER!!
In case you aren't on myspace or just missed it, this is what I have been up to...So after just about being over having Mono, I now have some big red infection in my thight. I went to the hospital today to have it checked out and now I can't really walk and it pretty much hurts all over.
I got these antibody shots in both cheeks of my ass and it hurt like fucking shit!!! The stuff is such a gnarly medicine they can't put it all in one side, they have to split it up so it doesn't harsh up your butt muscles! And when you get the shot it hurts when they stick the needle in and then instantly it feels like your ass is having THE WORST muscle cramp you can imagine!! The shots only take a few seconds each but I was squerming around on the bed yelling FUCK! for a good 20 minutes!!!
Anyway, thats what I did yesterday! Pretty sweet huh! Hopefully I will be a healthy boy again some day. My body hurts all over. :(
Send me flowers bitches!!! Haha actually send me covetted stickers! Vince you know what I mean!!!

Art show/Auction on January 20th...
There is an art show/auction on January 20th from 8pm until Midnight at the studio of Merrimac furniture designers (1216 SE Division) in Se Portland and it is a benefit for Shac 7.
To put it short, Shac 7 are a group of kids who are facing federal terrorism charges for having a website about an animal testing company in New Jersey. Whatever side one is on with this issue is pretty irrelevant. It has become more of a free speech issue than anything. You can find other information at
www.shac7.com. The art show has a page at
www.myspace.com/let_live.
There will be art for sale by Sandy Carson, Joe Rich, Michael Sieben, Taj Mihelich, Jared Souney, Glenn Friedman and Ralph Stollenwerk who used to do design for Little Devil. It would be cool to see you there. Thanks a bunch! -dave

Merry and Happy Everything....
I hope that covers it for the new few months.
I had this great idea for a new site, but it was just an idea. Besides is there anyone that still visits this thing? If there is, then this is a personal shout out to you.
Back to work today. Of course 3 days off and all it did was rain and blow trees down. Today, sunny, go figure. Ah well, beggers cant be choosers, but we sure can bitch about it if we have our own website. I thought there were some people that lived about a thousand miles closer to you that were going to take this site over when I left. I guess I was wrong. They are too busy shopping for shoes or playing cards. Here are links to their myspace profiles. Go get em. They are gonna hate me for this one.
