Had to run up to the office today to give Jake Seeley a frame. I hit up the grocery store for some food and saw the above car. It was Super Badass. The grocery store was nuts. So many people not feeling like cooking for the big game I guess. I headed back to the office, ate my foodies, worked on my bike, and watched Pelham 123. Somewhere in there Jake stopped through and I headed home to get Super, but not before shredding the garbage on the side of the house for till I did some real small no speed transfer and endo landed through it. Close call, time to call it.

I spent most of the Super Bowl not hating on it, twittering all things super and eating some Super Pizza. All in all a dialed day. Well not when I tried to go ride later, it was misting out, so I just went on a fun Ruckus ride.

Slept in this morning, felt good. I headed to the office around 1 to get started on the cabinet strip and repaint. After a quick talk with JC in Buffalo, I borrowed his car to hit up Home Depot. Quick back story.

Before Bauer left he started working on painting the OTX logo on some new cabinets we had for the Shelves in our office. The X was the last item left to do and he had run out of paint. We we grabbed more paint and he went to spray the final cabinets, the original layer or pain bubbled up. He stopped before this happened to tall of them. He took off and a few days later I warmed the cabinets with a heater, brought the temp of the paint up and tried to finish the job, same issue. I hate spray paint when it doesn't work correctly.

So today's mission is to strip all the cabinets back to fresh and start over. I grabbed some Citrus Stripper hoping that would be the nicest on the original finish. I tried it on a test piece and all seemed good to go, so I started. It took a bit to get the cabinets all stripped but they looked great. I ended up having to retape the logo outlines and copied Jims as close as possible.

I held my breath as I started the repainting process. I used a test piece and all went smooth. A few hours after I started the repainting process I had the freshly painted cabinets screwed into place and and knobs added. Stoked!

I also worked on the Ruckus in the waiting times between all the steps. I made me a bracket to mount my Speedo Straight on top of my Elementary Stem and did some other fine tuning. Pretty productive day and I rewarded myself with the UFC fight on Pay-Per-View. Pretty decent night of fights as well.

Good and very productive day today, well till I had to take off around 5:30pm to go to what I thought was Traffic Court. When I arrived I get through security, take my number and wait a short bit. While waiting I snuck this quick above photo of a 3 seat Eames Aluminum Arm Shell Tandem Seat. The office was full of these sets in several arrangements. Pretty dope.

My number was called in no time flat and I went to the window. It was here where I either admitted guilt and payed my fine of set another date over a month out for court. I really wanted to fight my ticket, which was for Disregarding the Barriers near 6th street on my Ruckus. I was over it so I just payed. Luckily I was almost in and out. I hit up Empire on my way home and hung out with the dudes.

I ended up at the office again later in evening to work on sanding down the logo on some cabinet doors. When I went to respray I had the same problem Bauer had with Orange Peel and wrinkles. I called it after that and headed home. Not to bad for a Friday.

Haha, great day today. 2 surprise guests, Stew Johnson and Sandy Carson. Stew joined us for lunch and I shot the above photo on our way to Freebirds on Congress. Stew and Taj were talking about Kiss and I was feeling the tunes. I was made for loving you baby, stuck in my head for half the day and it was sick! Later in the day Sandy stopped by to say hey and checked out the office. Nothing to crazy. They were both welcome surprises.

We made a run to Ikea and on the way back the van started freaking out on us by setting off the alarm while we were driving. We needed gas and to pull over so we did and up come Aiden. He was just waiting for a friend to ride and thought he would say what's up. We didn't have stickers for him so he got an Autographed Christmas Card. He was stoked.

Not too long after this photo was shot we met up with Taj for Bauers birthday dinner at the Red House. I straight up had the best Calzone (Pepperoni, Sausage, 3 Cheese) I have ever had. Good night for sure, Happy Birthday Jim.

I shot the photo on time and have taken my time to write about my final day of 2009. So many people in so many places have called this the worst year ever. Those same people had the same experience with 2008, dubbed 2KH8, 2 K Hate. For me it was 2 K Great and when I look back I had a 2 K Shine. So much great stuff happened for me this year. If you have followed this site you have gone through it with me.

I think some people speak the truth when they talk about 2009 dragging them down. Over all, it wasn't that a great year for many. Over the last few weeks I have really felt a pull by the 09 to make sure I look back on it and shutter. I tried so hard to leave a bad taste in my mouth. Not really sure what I did, but I am getting payback or some sort of reminder for something. It has truly been a test of my patience and of just me over all. I have spent some time trying to figure it out and I am not sure.

There is only one thing that really comes to mind. Cue the fade back. I spent my Christmas driving across the frozen Texas tundra with my sister and cousin to get to my Grandmothers birthday in Lubbock, the city of my birth. I have not really been around my mom's side of the family since we moved to Oregon in 1988. I was 10 when we moved and the visits back to Texas and contact with anyone besides my Grandma was very rare.

Fast forward 21 years and I enter the middle of a celebration for my grandma where my sister, cousin and I instantly become guests of honor. My mom has been hyping us up to all the family and instantly there is a room full of people that know us more than the FBI and we have no idea who they are. I said some stuff about knowing all the family I needed to know to my mom and was a real ass. Shit I wouldn't have said if we were eased into the situation and not put out there like show ponies. There were also a few instances of my mom being rightfully down that a lot of people that had raised her we now old and I was an ass and was just like, that's what happens to people. I think since my grandfathers death and the loss of friends over the years I have grown quite cold to the idea of death. It is something I have just accepted since I was real young, we all die and can't do anything about it. Just have to live life and have no regrets.

The few days back were real good. I instantly realized how lucky it was I had left that place and I have no idea who or what I would have become had I stayed. On the way home I just wanted to get back. I had been on the road for what seemed like several weeks and I had been sick damn near that whole time. My car goes boom and I do my thing to figure out a solution for us.

Most options to get us into town went no where. My mom gets on the phone and in no time family I have never met or have not seen in 30 years steps up to help. Instand in your face, "La Familia" moment. I still remember the I told you so look in my mom's face, classic. I love that woman. We end up having a great night catching up despite all the shit I am dealing with in my head.

I was genuinely stoked to see this part of my family. These were the people I remembered and wished I had never lost contact with. The best part, the moment I knew these were my kind of people, my blood, is when we all sat down around the kitchen table and picked up like we had been over last weekend. It was really great and I know even better for my mom. That is when I sunk in, even the most independent people need family in the end and I am thankful for that.

It is that realization that helped my through all the shit I have been dealing with for the last few weeks. I have not been tested like this in a long time and every time I am thankful. No FML bullshit. I love my life and the challenges with what makes us stronger, better people. When I look back on this year from where I started to where I am now, I know I have matured a lot. Well in some ways.

I look back and laugh that I picked an interesting year to chronicle my "life." I had no idea where this year would lead me and the amount of changes I would see. I think if I had sat down 365 days ago and guessed where I would be there is no way I would have said still working my same job in a better position in an amazing city. I also would not have believed that their is a chance I may never return to live in the North West.

What did I do on my last day of 2009? I slept in a bit, spent the day relaxing and caught public transportation or the party bus as we called it downtown and hung out with some friends at my usual Thursday night spot. Pretty funny that the scene on 6th way completely tame compared to how it is usually is. I had a great time, but there have certainly been better parties downtown. I hope it fixes it's self by Saturday.

Holy shit, last day of the years eve and things do not seem to be slowing down for me. I was into the office real early worked on a few things, talked to Terry Adams and ended up leaving around 3:30 to head to the airport to drop off the rental and meet up with my homie Russ from New York that is out for a few days. It's going to be a challenge
to show him the city without a car but so far we have made due.

Forrest gave me an assist with a pick up form the Airport and once home Russ and I ended up pedaling downtown to go by Empire. We hung out there for a while, shot some hoops then it was time for Tom to clock out and go home to Dad duty. Russ and I pedaled up the block and shot the shit while we waited for a bus back to my place.

once home we pretty much just chilled out, ate some leftover Arros Con Pollo and I showed him a bunch of pictures from the early PDX days. He thinks I should do something with them and I agree, just have to figure out what.

Haha, a week or so ago I loved the Austin Airport. So fast, so easy, but now I am getting sick of it. I have been here what seems like a week straight. Well, the last 2 days actually and one more time tomorrow then again next week.

Today was a lazy day for me. My mom and sister took off to do some running around and I just enjoyed the house to myself. They would get back and finish up their packing. I took them up to the airport about 4:30. We were all hoping their flights would work out since it started snowing like crazy in Portland.

After I dropped them off I hit the grocery store, then headed home and warmed up and re-spiced the Arros Con Pollo. It was so good again. I am going to eat it all till I am sick of it, then the cravings will go away, I hope.

My friend Kinsey stopped by for a few minutes so I could help her with a project she is working on for Aaron. The idea seemed sweet and the finished product was even sweeter when I saw a pic of it later in the night. Kudos to her.

I am calling it early tonight. Last day with a car for a while and my friend Russ flies in tomorrow. I really need to go off for New Years, tons of steam needing to be blown off.

The above picture is of the stop light I sit at every time I leave the airport. It isn't very exciting, but it is perfect to show how pumped I am to be spending so much time at the airport.
